Google fiber is looking to add it’s 1000 mbps Internet service to Los Angeles and Chicago. Yes you heard that right 1000 mbps or 1 Gigabyte per second Internet. This might seem like a luxury for the basic user who wants to just stream movies, play online games, or watch YouTube videos, but at $70 a month it might be more of a steal than anything. As currently people with even 1% of that speed pay half if not a little bit more for their current Internet service. But the real bonus kicks in as Google fiber boasts not having any data caps too slow you down or throttle your speed. And as the Google blog has stated :
“As we kick off our usual checklist process, we’ll work closely with city leaders to collect detailed information about each metro area. While we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to bring Fiber to Chicago and LA, this is a big step for these cities and their leaders. Planning for a project of this size is a huge undertaking, but we’ll be sure to keep residents updated along the way.”
We will just say that this seems to be a big winner in the terms of Internet speed and may be the downfall or the competitor of a lot of Internet service providers. At just $70, no data cap, and an upload / download speed that no service provider can match, we are looking at the next big thing here. Let’s be honest this is Google after all.
