Jose Aldo fulfilling Conor McGregors prediction ahead of UFC 194?
Can UFC featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo (7-0 UFC) really think about retiring? As of lately the p4p fighter in the UFC has been taking the lead up to UFC 194 all in stride and doesn’t seem to be as fired up for this fight as he has with previous ones. As stated from his kickboxing training partner Andy Souwer about if he thinks Jose Aldo Might retire :
“To be honest, yeah I think. Yeah, I think so,”
“So I think he’s done with it. And ready. I will agree,” Souwer said. “Whatever he is thinking, it’s his decision. But I think it will be good for him.”
“The training was hard but fun, I never saw him like this before,” said the Dutch. “Because I always saw him a little bit, almost stubborn, but this time I don’t know what happened he has a big smile. Almost every fight, every preparation that I help him, he is always in the first two rounds, he is okay, he’s good, then slows down, we also could see that in his fights, but for now six rounds, six minutes, he’s fucking the guys up.”
“Jose Aldo is the pound-for-pound fighter in this weight class and he will succeed this time also,” Souwer said. “It will be a fairytale story of course, but I’ll go for it.”
The change in attitude might stem from the relationship Jose Aldo currently has with the UFC which might not be a rocky one, but one where the UFC is promoting “certain fighters” and the Reebok deal which has severely impacted alot of Brazilian fighters. Jose Aldo possibly being one of them as Venum and others have sponsored the champion for years now. But with a last fight win for Jose Aldo could the defeat of Conor McGregor (6-0 UFC) leave a GSP / Jon Jones wide vacuum that affected the weltwerweight division for a good period of time be what’s about to come to featherweight? Or could Aldos defeat work in his favor as there would not be anyone better to lose to than the current UFC hype train called Conor McGregor?
Either way both situations work in Aldos favor as to the brazilian people he will be a legend, to the UFC he will be a Hall of Famer, to himself he will be a really rich man. But to the fans we will all be winners as we are about to embark on hopefully the fight of the year that we all have been expecting regardless of the outcome or “Mystic Mac” already beating us to the punch on the outcome again.
