UFC 194 Aldo vs McGregor

Chris Weidman (9-0 UFC) promises to finish Luke Rockhold (4-1 UFC) early in their UFC 194 fight in December. But is Luke Rockhold a person that Chris Weidman can just dismiss so easily? When you look at it on paper they are very much alike in that they are really big guys for the UFC middle weight division in both have a tendency to want to knock their opponents out in the most brutal way that they can think possible. So with these 2 fighters looking for clash with the same strategy How is an MMA fan supposed to look at this as a fight that is going to last more than 2 or 3 rounds when both of them are match so evenly? Chris Weidman has stated

“I’ve got to focus on Luke, and the winner of ‘Jacare’ [vs.] Romero,” Weidman said. “And then after that, we’ll start talking about Jon Jones, and 205, and anyone who is good. I’m going to say that my future does eventually take me to 205. Not because of weight-cutting at middleweight, but just because I think I’m running out of guys to beat at middleweight. Some of the tougher challenges are probably going to be done, soon.”
“I’m thinking, first, second, or third,” he predicted. “I’m thinking that in the first three rounds, it will be finished.”

With Luke Rockhold feeling the same way when interviewed prior to Chris Weidman matching his sentiment.

“It’s gonna be a closer first round. He’s going to be tough, but I’m going to start stuffing his takedowns and threatening him on the ground if need be. We’re going to find our way back to our feet and I’m going to start finding my groove. His pace is going to change and he’s going to start backpedaling and I’m going to start teeing off.”

A lot of fans are thinking that Chris Weidman has the advantage here as he has beat Vitor Belfort the same guy that beat Luke Rockhold with that spectacular spinning heel kick that led to Belfort’s TKO win over him. But then other fans argue that Chris Weidman fought the under powered version of Vitor Belfort which gives him less credit than Luke Rockhold.  But can many fans really expect Luke Rockhold to stand and trade with Chris Weidman? In his career Weidman has double the amount of strike based (ko/tko) than Luke Rockhold who holds more submission wins than Chris Weidman and should we expect the classic striker vs submission expert fight in reality
