Maximize Your Calves Size

Spread the word

For some reason people refuse to work calves. Its pretty much the most neglected muscle in the fitness realm that I’ve noticed.

Talking with a few people, some of the fitness enthused assume since they walk on their calves everyday, it will work itself out. Even though that i far from the truth I can see how they came up with that answer.

Having great calves comes with genetics but for others it can come with hard work and dedication. Calves may be one of the hardest muscles to develop. What makes matters worse, it’s highly noticeable when you don’t develop them and wear shorts. Depending on your upper body mass, your legs may look like the stick that holds the kebab. If you are suffering from tiny calf syndrome, there is a solution for growth.

For me, symmetry was the cure to great looking calves. I was informed by a couple bodybuilders that it’s okay to have big calves. It’s even preferred if your calves match the size of your biceps.

When you get a moment, grab a tape measure and level it around the meatiest portion of your calf. Do the same thing for your biceps. This technique will help you determine if you need to hit some calf raises from time to time.

Consistent repetition is one of the main ingredients to great looking calves.  As stated earlier, everyday normal activities are not enough for a significant difference in the look of these specific muscles. Calf raises are one of the go-to methods to developing this specific muscle but it’s not the only way and not always the best way.

Running hills is an awesome way to develop not only your cardio endurance, but also your calves. It allows the full range of motion, and depending on the stride of your run, it allows those stability muscles in your legs a chance to develop as well.

Lakeshore Drive Ride

If you don’t feel like running up Mt. Sinai, consider joining a Spin Class or a biweekly bike ride. For me this was the best and easiest way to make my calves really pop.

If those methods are out of the question, consider checking out my channel. There, you will find a workout consisting of 4 unique calves exercises. These particular calf movements will keep the muscles engaged for over 5 minutes.
