How To Not Be A Picky Eater

Spread the word

I’m a finicky eater. Ask anyone that’s around me during my feasting hour. It could literally take me 5 different restaurants, 3 grocery stores, and about 2 gas stations before I realize I just need to go home and have a bowl of oatmeal.

My friends get annoyed with my indecisiveness and it is understandable considering they are usually hungrier than me. To keep my taste buds from second guessing my hunger cravings and my friends from eating me, I’ve come up with 4 steps to help me make an informed decision on a solid meal, fast. If you’re going through the same thing this is the blog for you.

To make this process easy I’m going to give you steps you can ask yourself. Write these down on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet. Next time you go out, no matter where you are, you are going to know what you want and where to get it from.

Step 1. Prioritize your favorite meals.
-This will help you narrow your search. If pizzas’ the food that’s sure to please, you won’t even consider Taco Bell as an option.

Step 2. Pay attention to detail
-If you like fried chicken, note that it’s crunchy on the outside, yet soft and juicy on the inside…kinda like Wonder Woman.

Step 3. Name the foods you don’t like much that has similar features (Blah List).
-Think Grilled Cheese Sandwiches as the synonym in this case….like Electra

Step 4. Try something from your “blah list” everyday.
-When doing so, describe everything about its taste, smell, texture etc. Talk it over with you eating buddy and let them know what you don’t like and like about the meal. Unless they cooked it! You don’t want to offend.

In the practice of this technique, you will learn to experience your food rather than just surviving another meal. This sense of enjoyment will not come overnight. Many meals will be consumed in the process. Some good, mostly bad, but with the consistency of these particular steps in your journey, you will eventually become a human garbage disposal.
