Talk is cheap and your phone bill can be too. If you are trying to save money on your talk time, follow these 5 tips to find the cheapest line.

Check your coverage by inserting your zip code into Root Metrics to see if your carrier has the strongest signal. This will help you determine if you should get with a specific carrier in your location based off signal strength.

Its all about the competition. Your provider knows who has the cheapest bill. If you have the option to pay a lower price, let your provider know and they may match the plan. If they don’t have that wiggle room, call the cheaper provider.

Don’t worry about the contract. Most carriers more than likely don’t have a contract with you. If you do have a contract and you want to move on to the next, less expensive carrier, you might be able to count on the new provider paying that termination fee.

Are you a No Limit User? If so, do you really need to have all that data. Check your statistics! If you are under 3 gigabytes every other month, switch to  a cheaper plan that may be at your average limit.

Don’t sleep on the smaller carriers such as Boost Mobile and Cricket. They are more than likely cheaper in the long run but you may be capped on your internet speed. If you only use wifi for the most part, you are banking.
