Don’t Use A Running Partner!
Having a running partner isn’t always a bad thing. You have the potential to pick up a faster pace and open doors for new personal records (PR). However, if there is a good, there is also a bad.
Destroy Your Performance
Running with someone significantly faster is a sure way to destroy your performance. A lot of times their fitness level and training regiments may vary from yours in retrospect to rest and recovery. When choosing a running partner you should always consider someone who is either a little faster than you or on your level.
Hardest Run of Your Life
Being a beginner runner, training with a seasoned marathoner, can really put a dent in your runners high. Consider this, their easy day my be the hardest run of your life and you’re only going one mile. Before going on your recovery run establish a pace and commit to it. Pushing the pace will leave you short on the long-run.
Joining running groups is a sure way to ensure you stick to your goals and get stronger in your training along the way. Normally, running groups are based on pace and or age which will be beneficial placing you in your correct class.
Win Every Race…
At the end of the day, you set the pace. You don’t have to win every race, especially when its only training. Take your time to relax and recover so you can be stronger and faster at the end.
