How Do You Gain Weight and Not Get Fat?

Spread the word

For some it is easy to gain weight, normally unwanted weight but still weight. For others it may be hard to gain weight which can be extremely frustrating. No one really wants to be an adult with a child-like body. If you have a high metabolism or just not getting the gains where you want them check out these solutions on how to gain weight.

I hear it all the time, “My metabolism is too high” “I can eat a lot” “I can’t gain weight”. These statements come more often from young adults and some women trying to stack on the pounds. Although what they say is true, they may not be considering their caloric expense in reference to their caloric intake. Long story short, you have to eat more food than your body can burn.

For those stating, “I can eat a lot” what are you eating? If you are chomping down junk food all day because you think it won’t cause you to gain weight, you are probably right. What you’re wrong about is the amount of calories you are wolfing down on a daily basis.

For the next week, utilize an app such as Lose It to track your calories on every food and drink you consume. 7 days should give you a standard representation on how much you eat on a normal basis. You may find out that you don’t eat enough hence the reason why you are not gaining any weight.

I myself have a high metabolism and an active lifestyle. At times it has been tough to gain weight. Learning how to gain weight taught me that its even harder to eat. People with high metabolisms have to eat a lot more on a daily than the normal Galactus

Everyone can gain weight so stop making the excuse that you can’t. Learning your basel metabolic rate can help you get a good idea on how many calories your body burns. Once you get that number, eat more calories accordingly.

BMR

Your basel metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of calories your body burns as if you’re not doing nothing at all. Calculating your height, weight, age, and gender will give you your BMR.

Men: 66.47 + (13.7 * weight [kg]) + (5 * size [cm]) − (6.8 * age [years])

Women: 655.1 + (9.6 * weight [kg]) + (1.8 * size [cm]) − (4.7 * age [years])

Once you figure that out utilize these strategies for stacking weight:

Don’t skip a meal

Your body needs more calories and the only way you are going to get them is by eating food in your reach.

Eat frequently

Don’t stuff yourself in one sitting. No one wants to feel like crap all day. Spread your meals out. On average I eat 5-6 meals a day when I’m gaining.

Eat foods that stick

If you really want to see the gains, stick to dried fruits, pastas or even dez nutz (inside joke) but nuts too.

Include Protein

gain weight

If you workout or even if you don’t workout integrate protein in every meal. Not only does it help you recover faster, it also helps your grow bigger. I typically get my protein from chicken turkey and eggs but there are ton more out there.

Consistency is key

Plan your meals out so you don’t miss out on your needed calories. Know how many calories you get from your meal and adjust accordingly.

More is better
