Things to do on a Sunny Day

Spread the word

If you live in Chicago, you went through a rough 8 months of winter. Being teased with warm sunny days is not fun when the next day could be freezing with rain or even snow. The unpredictable weather left many prepared with a coat sitting on standby. Since it’s been consistently warm and sunny for the past 5 days I assume it’s like that everywhere in the world. To celebrate summer finally arriving, check out these ideas you can take advantage of in the near future.

Sunny Day Activities

Check out your local Park

There is nothing more tranquil than doing yoga in the park. For you early risers, bring your mat to the beach and strike a pose before the sun hit its peak. The experience will be a lot different with the atmosphere as your balance.

If yoga isn’t your thing, maybe a BBQ is on the menu. There is nothing better than a random BBQ with your friends. If you bring the grill I will bring the meat. (I should rephrase that sentence) If everyone pitches in on the food, this could be a cheap, lunch or dinner for all.

Take a walk

Stretch those legs out with nice walk or hike. Yes, it is time to bust out the Sketchers and put them to the test. The walk doesn’t have to be extremely long. A stroll around the block or up the hill of a random forest preserve is enough to get you seeing the world from a different perspective.

If you have pets or know someone with pets, take them for a walk. I have a Yorkie and he hates the cold, rain, and snow. When the temperature is right, you can’t get him to come in the house. Take advantage of this bonding moment and let your dog know what’s stressing you out in your life. They are the only one who is going to listen anyway. You may feel better in the end.

Time to hit the pool

You’ve been training all summer for this body and now is your opportunity to flaunt your stuff. Visit your local pool or hit the beach with your friends. Bring a ball and book for entertainment and please don’t forget the sunblock. We still have to protect our bodies the best way we can.

Fly a kite

I love flying kites. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid and I just can’t stop. You can buy a kite pretty cheap or even make one yourself. This is a great activity for becoming one with the wind (or gone with it).
