Anthony Pettis Ready for UFC Fight Night 81

Anthony Pettis (5-2 UFC) is set to get back in the spotlight of the UFC light weight division with a dominating win over Eddie Alvarez (1-1 UFC) and Eddie Alvarez is looking to do the same. But a lot of fans seem to be counting Anthony Pettis out after his one side of loss to Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 185.

Anthony Pettis seemed to be the spotlight fighter of the lightweight division last year after posting one of the most dominant wins over former reigning lightweight champion Benson Henderson in the 1st round of their UFC 164 fight. It was such a dominant win that even Wheaties took a big gamble on him by putting him on the cover of the Wheaties box making him the first UFC fighter to be featured on a cereal box.

But everything came crashing down with his first title defense as he seemingly overlooked Rafael Dos Anjos most likely due to his own hype from the fans and the UFC itself. It was the championship lifestyle that he says cost him the title as he is stated :

“My mindset was wrong,” he said. “I was looking past RDA, and I set up the whole year of 2015 before it even started. I was like, ‘I’m going to fight RDA. I’m going to fight in March, June, July – I’m going to line them all up.’ I lost track of the guy in front of me who was a killer, and the results showed.”

“I’m finally back. This is my time. I’m hungry again, I’m motivated, and I just want this more than anybody.”

“My whole career has been chasing titles, the WEC days, the UFC days,” Pettis said. “I know that once I get (the belt back) things will happen differently. I tried to baby myself, hire all these extra staff members, but why? I like having that pressure on myself and training myself and make sure I’m the one who gets up and busts my but in the morning.”

And with his new mindset he is set to dominate Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 81 and is not overlooking another dangerous fighter this time. And is hoping that a dominant win will get him a title shot so he can reclaim that championship lifestyle as he stated :

“Eddie Alvarez is one of them guys who like to take damage, so if he tries to wrestle me, we’ll defend with the wrestling, but I’m looking for the knockout, Pettis told MMAjunkie. “I don’t want a submission. I don’t want a three-round fight. I don’t want no judges. I want to go out there and dominate this guy and make my case for a title shot.”

MMA fans believe that Anthony Pettis can get back to the top and reclaim his belt even with RDA being the dominant champion he is, or even with Conor McGregorhttp://www.mixonfitness.com/2016/01/06/faked-conor-mcgregor-fanpage-has-a-message-for-floyd-mayweathers-racism-remarks/ coming to the division?
