The Ronda Rousey Comeback Looks Farther and Farther Away

Ronda Rousey UFC Return

It sounded like a done deal that former UFC womens bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey would come back to the division after Miesha Tate won the belt from Holly Holm at UFC 196. Especially after UFC CEO Dana White contacted Ronda Rousey and telling her that her former nemesis had just won the belt from the last woman to beat her in brutal fashion. Her reply was “It looks like it’s time to get back to work.”, but so far we’ve managed to not see very much from her or from her camp except for this easy day of training video below.

With UFC 200 looming where Miesha Tate will be defendning her new championship belt against Amanda Nunes Tate already has her sight sets on Rousey especially in the hopes of fighting the MMA superstar at UFC 205 another historic UFC card in the making. Rousey has less and less time to prepare and come back on a card that would make sense and a huge profit for her comeback. But now as sure as she was even Dana White has stated :

“She has as much time off as she wants or needs. Obviously, I would love her to come back sooner than later so we’ll see how that plays out but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to roll into New York with Ronda but I just don’t know if she’s going to be ready,” White revealed when speaking to “The Michael Kay Show”.

Her contemplation of suicide and the need for a lot of emotional support from her friends, family, and fans would seem to be enough to uplift her spirit from the near one sided loss to Holly Holm where the former champion would feel more confident in a set return. But still the MMA world sits and waits for Rousey to return and hopefully in the dominant fashion that made her the star that she is today. Without a set word or comment from the former champion the doubts of many continue to grow in her absence.

With Rousey gone the womens bantamweight hasn’t gone to hell in a handbasket and is actually starting to flourish as it’s own standalone division even without the extra star power. Tate would prefer to keep it that way, but the nagging doubt of MMA math will always follow her until she beats who many feel has her number like Holm had Rouseys number. Miesha Tate seems set on doing just that. MMA fans actually think Rousey is going to come back this year, and if not, with being gone for a year plus do you think she would need a tune up fight or even come back at all? Guess we’ll have to wait and find out.
