Martin Luther King had a Dream

Spread the word

The third Monday of January is a federal holiday to remember. Many acknowledge this day as a way to get out of work, but for me, I celebrate that day to recognize the life and contributions of Martin Luther King Jr.

FINALLY…

Martin Luther King had a dreamI remember like it was yesterday, former President, Ronald Reagan, signed the bill recognizing this great man’s achievements . I remember in 1986 where everyone was overwhelmed with joy because of this recognition.

He had heart

I think about his bravery and the pain he endured during for the civil rights movement. I think about the social injustice the minorities went through to get us where we are today. I think about how he inspired people struggling for social justice to be nice to the people that hate and feared them for being a different color.

Do better

Martin Luther King Jr. and others like him gave his life so we can have a better future. He proved that we can be better by doing better. What he instilled in me by his great speech “I have a dream” still echos in my head.

Although we have our problems in society till this day, Martin Luther King’s dream is a reality. Former President, Barack Obama, is proof that we have a chance to be something beyond ourselves. The dream no longer pertain to just African American’s but all ethnicities and backgrounds.Martin Luther King had a dream

On this day, Martin Luther King’s Day, I want you to say, “Hello” to a stranger. Give them a compliment while you’re at it. In doing so you might just spark the next great leader that will risk it all for our children future.
