My Fear

I hate carrying extra weight on my long runs. Not only does it include water bottles but my phone as well. I just feel like it gets in the way and hinders my running form from progressing forward. It may very well be all in my head but I honestly think one arm will get bigger than the other because I carry water in one hand longer than the other.

My Solution

To alleviate that issue, I started keeping the weight closer to my body with hydration systems. Testing out different equipment from vests to belts, I found that keeping the water on my back is the best place for me. It doesn’t cause irritation or back strain because it sits snug to my lower back.

Keeping it centered on my back allows me to feel symmetric. I personally prefer body belts over vests although I sacrifice the amount of water I can carry which can pose a problem on long, lonely runs. Planning accordingly can mitigate that risk easily. run with water

If you really feel like it’s not enough water, instead of carrying one water bottle, carry two. If you get thirsty on your run, alternate swigs keeping the amount of water even in both bottles. If it came down to it that’s how I would run with a water bottle. If not use the hydration systems recommended and When you’re done with that, drink the boiling hot water that’s been baking on your back for the past hour.
