Speed Up Your Recovery For a Faster Run

Spread the word

In today’s races, some are more concerned about speeding up their mile time. What if I told you, in order to speed up your pace, you would be required to indulge on your rest and recovery.

Rest Up

Rest is something we all talk about doing but have little time to do it. It’s all about the hustle and bustle nowSpeed Up Recovery-a-days. Yes, we have 24 hours in a day but so much of it is used to build our future. For some, we may go to work for 8 hours, spend 3 hours in traffic, 2 hours at the gym and another 3 for maybe personal time and/or getting ready for the next day. Right there alone, 16 hours has passed and there is always something to do. Why can’t rest be on that list?

From new runners to veterans, rest is crucial in becoming stronger in pace and stride. If you don’t give yourself a break, you could potentially plateau or regress into a slower runner. Becoming a slower runner is the least of your problems considering that over-training can harm your both your performance and your body.

If you ever ran a marathon or have considered running one in the future, take a look at the training regiment. I can almost guarantee they have short mile days on the menu. It’s a way of resting the body and also keeping it in its best condition.

For future reference, if you want to speed up your run time, consider running 3 to 4 times a week. Don’t keep your run or pace consecutive either. Mix your speed and elevation in your training to keep the body growing stronger and faster at the same time.
