What Makes A Great Running Shoe?

Spread the word

The perfect running shoe can be expensive. Normally with expensive shoes they’re designed to get beaten down. Depending on where you reside and how you run, your shoe may get broken down faster than you can get in marathon shape. That could be even more expensive in the long run. (no pun intended)

To save not only money but also wear and tear, consider investing in an extra pair of running shoes.

My shoes blew up!

running shoeGrowing up, I had one pair of shoes that had to last me the whole school year. The shoe type was the Reebok Classics. Those kicks were my work shoes, school shoes, and also running shoes. Looking back they were terrible because it wasn’t a multifunctional shoe. To be honest they should have been replaced within the month, but I made them work….with a lot of glue.

Buy multiple shoes.

Now that I’ve gotten a little wiser, I buy multiple shoes for different situations to cycle my shoe and keep my feet versatile. It greatly reduces the chance of my shoes being worn out quickly which can lead to an injury. I’m not rich by any means so I accumulate shoes over-time. I tend to shop around sales and outlets for my latest pairs.

Reduce your chances of a PR.

I personally have no problems breaking in a shoe for the next race because of this method. Some people believe that running in a new shoe right before the race can reduce your chances of a personal record (PR). For me, I think it’s psychological.

Stay fresh!

Having a fresh pair of running shoes before the race is like having new tires on the car. They are more efficient, and I have faith that they will keep me on track. For me that  makes my latest pair a great running shoe.

Question?

Do you prefer to run in one pair of shoes before your race? Do you have issues changing your shoe? If so let me know your thoughts below.
